Veteran Yoruba actor Ganiu Nafiu, known as Alapini Osha, has expressed regret over his involvement in campaigning for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.

Veteran Yoruba actor Ganiu Nafiu, known as Alapini Osha, has expressed regret over his involvement in campaigning for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.
In a recent statement, Alapini revealed that over 100 Yoruba actors dedicated two months to fervently support Tinubu’s presidential bid. Despite their efforts, he claims they have not received any form of acknowledgement. He questioned whether Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, was unaware of their contributions.
Alapini recounted the experience of fellow actor Olaiya Igwe, who controversially stripped naked at a river to pray for Tinubu’s success. According to Alapini, Olaiya has faced severe backlash and curses since that act, which he believes has had lasting negative effects.

“Over 100 Yoruba actors campaigned for Tinubu for a good two months. We thought our Messiah had come, yet we have not received a dime until now. Will Seyi tell me he was blind and didn’t see us when we were campaigning for his father? We used our personal money and even risked our lives to campaign. People cursed us in the comment sections.
Olaiya, who stripped naked at the river to pray for Tinubu, has been heavily cursed. To this day, he has not recovered from those curses. As it stands now, I am ready to curse anyone who votes for Tinubu for a second term. Seyi left Yoruba land to go to the north to pay their hospital bills. Are there no sick people in Yoruba land?”
Expressing his disillusionment, Alapini declared his readiness to curse anyone who votes for Tinubu in the upcoming election, citing the lack of support for their community. He also criticized Seyi Tinubu for prioritizing assistance to the northern region with medical bills while neglecting the needs of the Yoruba people.
