Enough is Enough: Nigerians Deserve Truth, Accountability and Decency in Our National Assembly – Otunba Babatunde Olushola Senbanjo
By Otunba Babatunde Olushola Senbanjo (BOS)
It is truly disappointing, yet not surprising that Senator Adams Oshiomhole has once again chosen the path of political arrogance over national interest. His statement that “Abaribe is not of APC” and therefore should not be allowed to speak on the tragic Kebbi school kidnap is not only reckless, but it is an insult to the spirit of democracy and to every Nigerian who still believes that our National Assembly is a house for all Nigerians, not the personal property of any political party.
When did the right to speak about national tragedies become dependent on party membership?
Since when did you have to carry an APC card before you could express concern over the bloodshed happening in your own country?
When did empathy and patriotism become partisan issues?
This is the height of political intolerance.
The National Assembly exists because Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation, ethnic background, or ideology, elected representatives to speak on their behalf. Senator Oshiomhole must be reminded that democracy does not begin and end with the APC, nor does the Red Chamber belong to any political godfather. Whether Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe is APC, PDP, LP, or APGA is irrelevant he is a Nigerian Senator speaking about a Nigerian tragedy. That alone gives him every right to speak.
Instead of silencing voices, what Nigerians need are answers:
Who gave the order for the military to withdraw before such a barbaric attack occurred?
Why do these tragic patterns keep repeating themselves under the APC-led administration?
Why is every call for accountability met with hostility instead of transparency?
For years, Nigeria has been bleeding every time we are bleeding from insecurity, from kidnappings, from economic hardship, from bad governance, and from leaders who refuse to put the people first. The APC-led administration, now comfortably in its second decade of influence, cannot continue pretending that all is well. Nigerians are tired. Our patience is exhausted. Our tolerance has been stretched beyond the limit.
Every time the country suffers another attack, instead of solutions, we see blame games. Instead of unity, we see partisanship. Instead of accountability, we see excuses. And instead of humility, we see leaders trying to silence those who dare to speak truth to power.
Enough is enough.
Nigeria does not belong to any politician or any party. It belongs to the people millions of ordinary Nigerians who wake up every day hoping their children will return safely from school…, hoping their roads will be safe…, hoping their leaders will at least respect their intelligence.
Senator Oshiomhole should be more concerned about the lives lost and the families broken than about which party a Senator belongs to. Leadership is not about loudness; it is about responsibility. And responsibility begins with respecting the voices of others.
Nigerians demand truth.
Nigerians demand accountability.
Nigerians demand a government that protects its people, not its political ego.
If speaking about the suffering of Nigerians now requires membership in one party, then the entire concept of democracy has been turned upside down.
We will not be intimidated.
We will not be silenced.
And we refuse to accept a Nigeria where tragedies become routine and leaders become untouchable.
It is time to rebuild this country with honesty, courage, and genuine love for the people. Enough is enough.
