PDP Kicks Back, Rejects Stifling Social Media by APC, Gives Reasons

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has rejected the strangling of the social media by the All Progressive Congress saying that it was unconstitutional and a move to ‘asphyxiate’ Nigerians.

They made the call on Wednesday in a statement made available to newsmen stating that it was a call to repress the civil society particularly the youths to stop the demand for accountability and competence from leaders.

This comes two weeks after the #endsars protest stifled the country as youths demanded the disbanding of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, over the extortion, harassment and killing of youths in the country.

The PDP advised the APC to come clean on its accountability and stop shielding corrupt government officials.

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan stated that the party does not support the dissemination of fake news and also reminded the APC how they used the tool to grab power before 2015 general election.

‘In fact, APC should be apologizing for making social media toxic, importing fake news into our polity as well as running an incompetent, oppressive and corrupt administration.’
