200-Level UI Medical Student Dies After Consuming Sniper Over ‘Low CA’
A 200-level medical student of the University of Ibadan (UI), Ifeoluwa Wisdom Akinmade, has reportedly died after consuming a harmful substance identified as sniper.

The tragic incident was announced on Monday in a statement jointly signed by Folusho Olu-Adegbola and Babatunde Dauda, President and General Secretary of the University of Ibadan Medical Students Association (UIMSA).
According to the statement, Akinmade passed away despite urgent medical intervention provided by a team of healthcare professionals.
“It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother and colleague, Ifeoluwa Wisdom Akinmade, a member of the 200-level Constituency,” the statement read.
“In this moment of profound grief, let us come together in quiet reflection and hold our departed brother, his family, his close friends, and all who have known and loved him in heartfelt prayers, that they may find divine comfort, strength, and peace amid this unbearable sorrow.”
A social media influencer based in Ibadan, known on X as Hon. Jesugbemi, also shared the UIMSA statement, noting that the news was formally communicated by the warden of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall.
She wrote; “A Dark Morning in UI: We Lost One of Our Own 💔
•In the early hours of this morning, the University of Ibadan community was hit with the heartbreaking news of the passing of a student
•The student, Ifeluwà Wisdom Akinmade, a 300 Level MBBS student (Class of 200 going to 300), was reportedly suspected to have taken a harmful substance around Saturday midnight
•Following the incident, he was rushed first to Jaja Clinic and later transferred to UCH for urgent medical attention
•He remained in a coma for several hours despite efforts to stabilise him
•Sadly, he later passed on
•The news was formally communicated by the Hall Warden of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall
•Students and members of the University community have been urged to seek help when overwhelmed and to share their struggles with trusted friends, seniors, or support systems
•This loss has deeply shaken not just his hall, but the entire University of Ibadan community
•It is a painful reminder of the silent battles many young people face
This is truly a sad moment for UI students and Ibadan at large. May comfort find his family, friends, and everyone affected by this loss.”
Another X user Daniel with the handle @oluwadanielmii shared that the deceased killed himself over low CA.
“A 200lvl medical student of University of Ibadan took his life. I’m hearing that it’s because of low CA score. Even when you’re thinking of doing it, think of what your parents will go through!! Suicide is never an option please!!!!!”
Meanwhile, the PRO of UCH Funmi Adetuyibi confirmed the death of the Student.
