Tinubu Reconstitutes Governing Council of Nigeria Police Academy
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the governing council of the Nigeria Police Academy, appointing a 16-member team to oversee the institution’s administration and strategic direction.

According to the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the newly constituted council will be chaired by the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam. Key institutional stakeholders have also been included, such as the chairman of the Police Service Commission and the Inspector-General of Police, alongside representatives from the Federal Ministries of Education, Finance, and Justice.
To ensure national representation, the President appointed six members drawn from Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. They include Babagana Zannah Adam (North East), Emmanuel Torkuma Manger (North Central), Maigari Abati Dikko (North West), Dubem A. Obaze (South East), Ajibogere Toyin (South West), and Udom Udo Ekpoudom (South South).
The council will also feature ex officio members, including the Commandant of the Academy, the Provost, and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police responsible for training. The Registrar of the Academy will serve as secretary to the council.
