Obaseki Increases Workers’ Minimum Wage

The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has stated that the state government has reviewed the minimum wage of workers from N30,000 to N40,000.

He made this known on the 1st of May while commemorating the worker’s day celebration where he also revealed that the welfare of workers was his number one priority.

“I announced that we have reviewed the minimum wage for Edo workers from N30,000 to N40,000 a month. Although we would have loved to pay more, we hope that this little adjustment will enable us to cushion the impact of the inflation that we are faced with. 2.
To our workers; your welfare is our number one priority. As a government, we are prepared to make the sacrifices, so that our workers can live a better life. Happy Workers’ Day.”

Recall that the federal government reviewed the minimum wage of workers from N18,000 to N30,000 in 2019 but some State governors opposed the decision citing that States could not afford to pay the new minimum wage.
