A 42-year-old man named Nkem ThankGod, also known as “2man” has been neutralized by the Rivers State Police Command for a series of heinous crimes committed in Ahoada East and Ahoada West Local Government Areas. His offences include multiple murders and oil vandalism.
The deceased, from the Ogbologbolo Community in Ahoada West LGA, was identified as the leader of the Greenlander Cult Group and the prime suspect in the killing of the Youth President of the Okogbe Community, Mr. Christmas Ede, on December 21, 2021. He was also linked to multiple killings in 2024, which included two PMF 48 personnel and three civilians—Mr. and Mrs Rex Kiriki and Mrs Abigail Victor—after collecting ransom.
According to the Police Spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, Nkem ThankGod was responsible for the murders of two Shell staff members in Okogbe, the theft of their Toyota Hilux, and the shooting of SP Bello during a rescue operation in 2022. He also killed two officers from the Rapid Response Team in early 2023 and was involved in the kidnapping and carjacking of a red Toyota Camry belonging to Dare Shola in October 2024.
Additionally, he orchestrated several kidnappings, extorted ransoms, and frequently vandalized oil pipelines and government installations in Ahoada West.
Nkem ThankGod met his end during an intelligence-led operation while attempting another kidnapping. His gang members managed to escape with injuries, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Recovered items include two AK-47 rifles, five magazines, and twenty-two rounds of live ammunition.
