The Nigerian Immigration has announced a Contactless Passport Application System which enables Nigerians in Diaspora to renew their passports without visiting any passport centre for biometrics enrollment.

According to the Spokesperson of the Service, ACI AS Akinlabi, on Thursday, the Contactless Passport Application System, which rolled out in Canada on November 5, 2024, can be downloaded from the Google Play store(NIS Mobile).
It announced a rollout date for Europe, whose Coordinating centre will be the United Kingdom, as 7th February 2025 and reiterated its commitment to bring efficient service to Nigerians anywhere in the world.

It, however, said that the initiative is not for fresh applicants or minors but for those renewing their passports.
Nigerians living abroad can start the process of renewing their passports a year before their expiration.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has approved a passport processing facility for New York, to address the backlog and bring experience there.
It added that passport front offices will soon be opened in other parts of the US and other countries.
