The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, in the Ecclesiastical Province of Niger Delta, has imposed restrictions on politicians using the pulpit for political statements or addressing the congregation.

In a letter signed by Most Reverend Dr. Blessing Enyindah, the Archbishop of the Province of Niger Delta, the decision was made due to the abuse of privilege by individuals, particularly politicians.
The Archbishop specified that if a politician is allowed to address the Church, they must be warned in advance not to make political statements. Should they fail to adhere to this warning, the microphone will be turned off, or it will be retrieved from them.

Emphasizing the need for strict compliance, the Archbishop noted that this decision was reached after careful consideration during the Provincial Episcopal Meeting held at All Saints’ Cathedral in Uyo, Diocese of Uyo, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
It was also discussed with the Archbishop and all the Diocesan Clergy Association Chairmen on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Archbishop’s office in Isiokpo, Rivers State.
