The Federal Ministry of Education has clarified that the textbook ‘Living History’ is not part of its education curriculum and advised the public to disregard any information to that effect.

In a statement by Boriowo Folasade, the Director of Press and Public Relations, it stated that the textbook was never submitted to the National Educational Research and Development Council NERDC, a body with the responsibility to review, evaluate and approve instructional materials for assessment under the national curriculum.
The Ministry urged parents and guardians to disregard the misinformation as ‘Living History’ is not part of officially approved textbooks for History in the country.
It also warned against the use of unauthorised instructional materials stating that such would undermine curriculum standards thereby affecting the quality and learning outcomes.
It emphasized that the approved textbooks reflect the rich cultural heritage of the people and promote inclusivity balance and unity.
Recall that there were claims that the textbook ‘Living History’ authored by J. M. Itsekure, O. O. Olajide, and T. E. Taiwo which excluded the teaching of Igbo history was approved by the Federal Ministry of Education.
