Chinedum Orji Media Denies Consensus Candidate Claim Ahead of Ikwuano/Umuahia Primary
The camp of Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, popularly known as Ikuku, has dismissed reports of an alleged stakeholders’ meeting and the adoption of a consensus candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency as false and politically motivated.

In a communique issued by Umauhia North stakeholders and House of Representatives aspirants, it endorsed Mayor Lucky Igbokwe Don Lulu as its consensus candidate to enable the Ohuhu clan complete it’s eight year existing tenure.
In a statement issued on Friday, Ikechukwu Okorie, spokesperson for Chinedum Orji, described the reports circulating in some quarters as “misleading and clearly orchestrated propaganda.”
Okorie stated that no stakeholders’ meeting was held and no consensus candidate was agreed upon by stakeholders from Umuahia North or the constituency as a whole.
“Let it be stated clearly and without ambiguity: there was no such stakeholders’ meeting, and there was no consensus candidate agreed upon by any genuine stakeholders,” he said.
According to him, the alleged misinformation campaign began after attempts by political opponents to use a petition against Orji at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) failed to yield results.
He alleged that following the unsuccessful petition, detractors resorted to spreading false narratives in an effort to weaken Orji’s political standing ahead of the primary election.
Okorie further claimed that the attacks intensified after it became evident that the former Speaker had gained widespread grassroots support across the constituency.
“This propaganda is designed with one objective, to deceive the public into believing that Ikuku will not participate in the primary election. That false impression will not stand,” the statement added.
The spokesperson reaffirmed that Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji remains fully in the race for the House of Representatives seat and enjoys massive support from party members and constituents.
He expressed confidence that the outcome of the primary election would reflect the wishes of the people, insisting that “no amount of propaganda can override the will of the people.”
Okorie also called on supporters to remain resolute and turn out en masse during the primary election, maintaining that the mandate belongs to the people.
