Amnesty International condemned the killing of eight operatives of the Nigeria Police, Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state on Tuesday.
While condemning the gruesome killing in a statement issued on Tuesday, it urged the Nigerian government to lead prompt, independent, impartial, and effective investigations into the killing and bring justice for the victims.
“Amnesty International strongly condemns the horrific killing of 8 security personnel at Oriagu Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo state. The gruesome killing of the security personnel clearly shows utter disregard for the sanctity of life. The Nigerian authorities must initiate, and lead prompt, independent, impartial, and effective investigations into the killing of the 8 security personnel to bring those suspected of criminal responsibility to justice.”

In a viral video, the personnel were seen lying on the ground with their vehicles set ablaze after an obvious killing.
Meanwhile, Shehu Sani, the former Senator representing Kaduna Central has also condemned the killing of the eight security personnel tasking the security forces to smoke out culprits.
“The killing of Eight Soldiers and Policemen in Imo State is a condemnable act. The security forces should do all they can to smoke out the culprits and bring them to Justice. My thoughts and prayers to the Nigerian Army and the families of the victims.”
Imo has been a bedrock of killing as unknown gunmen have killed many businessmen and youths in the State which has made Imo unsafe for the people.
