14 Arrested During Sanitation Raid on Charity Bridge in Lagos
Fourteen individuals, including 12 miscreants and two street traders, were apprehended on Tuesday morning during a surveillance operation by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) on Charity Bridge, inward Mile 2.
The operation, announced by the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, targeted individuals allegedly violating environmental and public order laws by loitering and engaging in illegal street trading on the bridge.
According to Wahab, the following individuals were arrested during the sweep: 30-year-old Kayode Solomon, 48-year-old Destiny Chima, 25-year-old Abdullahi Saidu, 20-year-old Egbe Robinson, 18-year-old Ekundayo John, 25-year-old Francis David, 21-year-old Aminu Mohammed, 25-year-old Isa Iliyasu, 23-year-old Ibikunle Seyi, 33-year-old Wasiu Salami, 19-year-old Sulaiman Lawal, 23-year-old Temitope Olawale, 23-year-old Qassim Yusuf and 18-year-old Olamide Favour.
Wahab stated that all suspects would be prosecuted by relevant state laws, reinforcing the government’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental infractions and street trading in unauthorised locations.
The operation is part of a broader crackdown aimed at restoring order and ensuring public safety across key areas in Lagos.
