Police Crack Down on Robbery, Arrest Six Suspects
The Enugu State Police Command has arrested six male suspects in connection with various criminal activities including robbery, fraud, and cultism, following a series of intelligence-led operations across the state.

According to a press release signed by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests were made between August 25 and September 4, 2025, by operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad and Nsukka Urban Division. Recovered during the operations were two unregistered Daihatsu Hijet minibuses, a motorcycle, eleven ATM cards, an HP laptop, and other incriminating items.
Those arrested are 34-year-old John Joseph a.k.a. “Musa”, 40-year-old Kingsley Essien Ubong, and 43-year-old Ogbonna Kelvin. The trio were apprehended after Chinedu Onwuka’s confession, who was arrested in May for a similar offence and is currently remanded. Their arrest led to the recovery of the minibus and motorcycle, both lacking registration and engine numbers.
Similarly, operatives also arrested 38-year-old Sunday Ebuka Egbuaba, a suspected member of the Junior Vikings Confraternity, on September 2. A search of his residence uncovered an HP laptop allegedly stolen from a victim. His arrest was based on information provided by 23-year-old Nnaji Ifeanyi, a confessed Black Axe member who is currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, on August 30 at about 8:00 p.m., police officers from the Nsukka Urban Division rescued and arrested Friday Nwaomege (25) from a mob after he and two accomplices, still at large, allegedly snatched an ATM card from a victim along Enugu Road, Nsukka. The suspect sustained injuries from the mob before police intervention. A total of twelve ATM cards and an ENTRACO-branded minibus (Reg. No. ENU 902 YS), used during the operation, were recovered. The vehicle was reportedly damaged by the mob.
The Enugu State Police Command stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing suspects and recover more evidence. All arrested individuals will be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
