Abia Born business Mogul,
Prominent philanthropist and entrepreneur, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, widely known as Ofuji, has disbursed millions of naira to women petty traders across Bende Federal Constituency as part of efforts to ease the pressure of current economic conditions.

The empowerment programme, held on February 6, 2026, saw over 100 women receive N200,000 each to expand their small scale businesses and improve household income. The intervention targets grassroots traders who form the backbone of local commerce within the constituency.

Speaking on behalf of Dr. Anyaso, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Chima Anyaso Foundation, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha, explained that the initiative was a direct response to the economic challenges facing many families. He stated that the support was also meant to complement the development efforts of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, whose administration continues to focus on economic stability and social welfare.

Onuoha urged the beneficiaries to apply the funds wisely to ensure business growth and long term stability, stressing that the foundation’s goal is to create lasting impact rather than short term relief.

The event drew strong political and community presence. The Bende PDP Local Government Chairman, Chief Ihechi Phillips, praised the initiative, contrasting it with what he described as empty political promises that offer no real support to the people. He noted that the Chima Anyaso Foundation has consistently delivered practical assistance that directly reaches beneficiaries.

The programme also stood out for its broad political inclusion. Leaders and stakeholders from ADC, APC, Labour Party, PDP, and YPP were present, reflecting wide acceptance of the empowerment drive beyond party lines.

Among the notable speakers was Pastor Okechukwu Dike, a PDP chieftain, who described the gesture as timely and significant, urging constituents to remember those who show genuine commitment to their welfare. Lolo Arisa Okparigbo, women’s leader of the Ofuji Movement, assured continued civic engagement and support from women across the constituency.

This February intervention marks the second major empowerment activity by the Chima Anyaso Foundation in 2026. On January 1, the foundation distributed N500,000 and N250,000 to youths and distinguished individuals across Bende, setting the tone for sustained social investment throughout the year.
