The member representing Bende South in Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Emmanuel Chinedu Ndubuisi (Ijiriji Bende), has stated that although Businessman Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso is more experienced in show business and entertainment, he is more aligned with leadership and politics.

Responding to questions from journalists at his official declaration on Wednesday, Chief Ndubuisi maintained that he cannot challenge Anyaso in show business, but in politics, he is far superior.

“Everybody has a calling and I believe that Chima Anyaso has a calling in show business and entertainment while I have a calling in leadership. I cannot compete with him in the show business world. It’s not all about money but even if it is, I have it too.”

The leader stated that after consulting with political leaders, stakeholders, family, and considering the Big shoes worn by Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu on the position he aspires to, he is confident of securing the party ticket as he previously contested for the Federal House of Representatives seats in 2014 and stepped down in the primaries because the party decided on a consensus candidate.

“I’m sure that I’ll emerge as the candidate of my party. Whatever decision my party makes, I believe that I’ll obtain the Party ticket. I went back and contested at the State House. Today, I’ve gained a lot of experience serving in the State House of Assembly during my first and second tenures. The leaders of the Bende people trust me. The leaders of Bende South State Constituency unanimously adopted me as their consensus candidate for Bende South and North Federal Constituency. I’ve secured endorsement from my constituents.”

Speaking on his achievements while serving as the representative of Bende South, he said he initiated a programme in his first tenure entitled ‘Catch Them Young’ for teenagers, provided bursaries to teenagers across all wards of Bende South, and distributed palm seedlings as a means to support their economic development and teach them the value of hard work.

“That programme received a national award. I’ve built school blocks, water boreholes; in 2020, I established a committee in Bende South to turn the market in Uzuakoli into a daily market, chaired by Chief T.C Mba. The committee also includes the current mayor of Bende LGA, as part of our effort to attract investors to Bende South. I see Bende South as the gateway to Abia North. If you look at it, Bende South is the closest to the Capital City, and I believe it should be a centre of commerce in Abia North. I utilised my influence to bring a Ram Agri business, and in 2021, that market was approved for construction in Bende South during the government of Okezie Ikpeazu. Dr Alex Otti is now implementing that market.”

Sharing his excitement, Chief Ndubuisi said the market will include about 20 kilometres of feeder roads where agricultural products will be transported to the market. He emphasised that this was one of his reasons for contesting the Federal House of Representatives seat, as the State House had not provided the platform needed to develop Bende LGA into an economic hub of the State.

“If industries are established here, they will do very well. I’m most excited that the Federal Government has designated a Federal Housing Estate in my constituency. This means that we will attract more residents to patronise this constituency. I proposed a bill to establish industrial clusters in all the Local Government Areas of the State. Although the bill has not yet been passed, one reason is that some individuals do not share the same vision as I do.”

He highlighted the existence of industrial clusters in Korea and other places he visited, explaining that these help the community’s youth find employment after completing school or training.

“Many sons and daughters of Bende are wealthy, and they should consider repatriating their funds to Bende to establish industries. We have cocoa in Bende, and people keep coming here to buy it, which I find unsatisfactory. I intend to continue the work started by Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu in Bende. I believe that if we can attract even one company using cocoa as a raw material, thousands of my constituents will gain jobs. Cocoa farmers will have a reliable market for their produce.”

Also present were High Chief Okechukwu Okorie, Engr Nnadozie Egweronu, Chief Chinedum Kingsley Awa, Chief Chikezie Nnochiri, and a host of other dignitaries.
