ADC Rejects INEC’s 2026–2027 Election Timetable, Alleges Bias in Favour of Tinubu
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally rejected the 2026–2027 general election timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing it as a political tool designed to favour the ruling administration ahead of the 2027 polls.

In a statement issued on Friday, the opposition party argued that what INEC presented as a routine administrative schedule is, in reality, a calculated framework that narrows the democratic space and tilts the playing field in favour of the incumbent government.
The party maintained that democratic competition must be built on fairness and equal opportunity, warning that any structure that gives an advantage to one political actor undermines the credibility of the electoral process.

According to the ADC, the timetable appears to grant the ruling party what it described as a “one-year head-start” on key requirements, conditions which, it claimed, other political parties only became fully aware of at a much later stage.
The party also announced that it has joined other opposition groups in rejecting what it termed the “corrupted Electoral Act 2026,” arguing that the law and the newly released timetable are interconnected and collectively structured to advance what it called President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “automatic self-succession project” in 2027.
The ADC stated that it would not take any action that could be interpreted as legitimising what it considers a flawed electoral framework. It added that consultations are ongoing and that further steps will be announced in the coming days.
INEC has yet to officially respond to the ADC’s claims as of the time of filing this report.
