Otti: Abia Rejoice Movement Defends Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, Criticises Abia APC Over Reaction

The Abia Rejoice Movement has said that Dr Uchechukwu Ogah remains a committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while asserting that his support for Governor Otti reflects independent judgment rather than disloyalty.

In its response to the Abia State Chapter of the APC, it argued that acknowledging perceived performance across party lines is consistent with democratic principles and should not be construed as sabotage.

In a statement released on Sunday, the group described the APC’s reaction reportedly delivered by a party representative as “alarmist, emotionally charged, and poorly reasoned,” arguing that the intensity of the criticism directed at Ogah contradicts claims that he is politically irrelevant within the party.

According to the movement, the APC’s focus on Ogah reveals deeper internal tensions. “For a party that insists he is insignificant, the level of attention given to him suggests otherwise,” the statement said, questioning whether the real issue lies with Ogah or internal contradictions within the party.

The statement further claimed that governance in Abia State is increasingly being judged by citizens based on visible outcomes, including infrastructure development, administrative reforms, and economic initiatives.

It added that attempts to suppress differing opinions could widen the disconnect between political actors and public sentiment.

Criticising what it described as intolerance for dissent, the Abia Rejoice Movement warned that political parties risk becoming “echo chambers” if they fail to accommodate diverse viewpoints. It also accused the APC of prioritising internal disputes and personality clashes over presenting policy alternatives to voters.

The group urged the opposition party to adopt a more constructive approach, emphasising the need for ideas-driven engagement rather than what it called “reactionary politics.”

Looking ahead to the 2027 gubernatorial election, the movement cautioned against underestimating Ogah’s political influence, referencing past electoral dynamics as a reason for strategic reflection.

It called for a shift in Abia’s political discourse toward governance, development, and the welfare of citizens, noting that “history remembers clarity, courage, and contribution not noise.”
