Uzodinma Commends Benjamin Kalu’s South East Peace Project

Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma has stated that the peace mission of the South East Governors’ Forum resonates deeply with the people as it will propel security and a prosperous region in the country.

He asserted this at the civic reception of the Deputy Speaker (DSP) House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu in Bende LGA of Abia State, who initiated the Peace in South East Project (PISE-P), with the intent of fostering peace across our region.

In a statement made available on Saturday, Governor Uzodinma also commended Vice President Kashim Shettima, ‘for his commitment to the progress of our region, and extended heartfelt gratitude to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his genuine support in addressing the security challenges faced by our region. His steadfast commitment empowers us to overcome adversities orchestrated by those against our progress.

Moreover, it is gratifying to acknowledge the collaborative endeavors of the South East Governors and Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Worldwide in convening the South East Economic and Security Summit which laid the foundation for progress and I am pleased that the Deputy Speaker’s PISE-P initiative aligns seamlessly with the summit’s vision.

While appreciating the presence of peace icons, Emir Aminu Ado Bayero CFR, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR, and a host of other nationalists, we eagerly anticipate providing every necessary collaboration to ensure the success of this critical project in our pursuit of a secured and prosperous South East.’

Also speaking, Vice President Shettima who represented President Tinubu stated that the Federal government would extinguish the fire of insecurity in the region as the zone is “an industrial hub, which plays a vital role in boosting the nation’s economic development”.

According to President Tinubu, saboteurs “who masquerade as advocates of Ndigbo” would not be tolerated to sabotage the economic activity of the people.

“We know that the South-East has weathered too many storms but the current economic stagnation has shaken the foundation of the region.

“We are not going to sit back and watch the fire go beyond what we can handle.”
